Niacin Capsules by Seeking Health provide 50 mg of niacin, also known as vitamin B3, a nutrient that is naturally produced in the body and is found in many of the foods we eat. Niacin may help support healthy circulation, healthy carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and healthy skin. Because the body cannot store niacin, it requires adequate intake of this important vitamin everyday.*
Niacin may support normal mood regulation by relieving any symptoms that could be related to a deficiency of this important vitamin. One of the building blocks of serotonin is the amino acid tryptophan, and one of the building blocks of tryptophan is niacin. Tryptophan also helps maintain healthy levels of niacin within the body. If tryptophan is divided between serotonin production and niacin production, serotonin production may be reduced when niacin levels are inadequate. Supplemental niacin and tryptophan can be beneficial for healthy moods.*
Niacin is important for proper functioning of all cells, including the cells of the brain and nervous system. Niacin has the well-known effect of causing vasodilation, often called the niacin “flush,” which is an opening of small blood vessels (capillaries) for increased blood flow. These are the blood vessels which are of most value in reaching fatty tissues. Healthy blood flow is important for allowing toxins stored in these fatty tissues to be removed into the bloodstream, and processed out of the body. Niacin may also support healthy skin by promoting normal moisture retention, elasticity and tone. Niacin may also support healthy cartilage.*
For the same dose in a lozenge format for those who have trouble swallowing capsules, consider our Niacin Lozenges.
Niacin Flushing: This formula contains niacin. When taken on an empty stomach, a healthy response to niacin supplementation may include mild blushing, warming, or tingling of the skin. This can appear on the ears, face, arms, torso, or occasionally on the legs. Commonly referred to as a “niacin flush”, this harmless response normally dissipates within an hour. It is related to niacin’s role in vasodilation (widening of blood vessels). Vasodilation leads to better circulation, capillary flushing, and increased blood flow to the surface of the skin. To minimize or prevent flushing, consider taking this supplement with food or in divided doses.*

Caution & Contradindications
Children and pregnant or lactating women should consult their healthcare practitioner prior to use. Do not use if tamper seal is damaged. Consult with a healthcare professional before use if you are using antibiotics, cholesterol-lowering drugs, blood pressure medications, alpha-inhibitors or other medications. Niacin may cause a “flush” feeling including tingling, feeling warm, blushing or turning red (usually on the face, ears, neck, or chest). This reaction is more common for individuals who have not used niacin-containing supplements before, or for those who are sensitive to niacin. It usually subsides in a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the individual. You can reduce your likelihood of experiencing that reaction by eating a meal before or very shortly after taking a supplement containing niacin, drinking plenty of water, and making sure that your dose is appropriate. It may be best to start out with only a portion of a serving and gradually work your way up to your desired dose, allowing your system to acclimate to the niacin. We recommend that you consult with a healthcare professional for help determining the best dose of niacin for your individual needs, and that you talk with your practitioner about any side-effects your experience while using niacin.
