Echinacea Precautions
- The risk of allergic reaction to Echinacea is very small, particularly when root preparations are used, as they are free of pollens.
- Echinacea is contraindicated for long-term use in patients taking immunosuppressant medications (such as transplant patients). Short-term therapy only is suggested in these cases.
Medication Interactions
Use caution in patients:
- Receiving injectable midazolam.
- Taking theophylline, as Cayenne may increase its absorption and bioavailability.
Additional Precautions
- Discontinue use 7 days prior to general anaesthesia.
